Register of Exercise Professionals
In August 2005, the UK became the first country in the world to introduce a national
standard governing the teaching of Pilates Matwork.
This standard details the knowledge and skills that a teacher must
have in order to be formally recognised as a Pilates teacher.
It is endorsed by SkillsActive and the
The Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs)
and is recognised by the European Health and Fitness Association.
Body Control Pilates was the first specialist Pilates training provider to
receive approval against this standard.
The minimum standard for
Pilates Teachers is REP, Level 3 Pilates.
Before taking up Pilates, for your own safety and
wellbeing, do check that your teacher is qualified to teach.
The qualifications of Pilates
Teachers can be verified on the REPs website

Backcare
Backcare is an independent national
charity that helps people manage and prevent back pain by providing
information, promoting self help and funding research into better
back care.
HRH The Prince of Wales is the patron.
Backcare represents people with back pain, a broad range of health
professionals who treat back pain, and researchers and employers.
The charity has extensive links with the NHS, Government
Departments, industry and other voluntary organisations which
enables it to have a say in policy
formation and promotion of best practice in managing back pain. From
it's strong foundation the charity has evolved and developed to meet
the needs of a very diverse group of people and strives to ensure
that people are well educated and informed about issues surrounding
